The Artist
Jose Solon Perfecto is a Filipino ceramic artist that blends his own wild clay and formulates ash glazes using elements of his terroir: rice fields, trees, deposits from the mountain. He is using ancient techniques and championing cultural heritage, but his pottery has a vibe that is as much witness as chronicler of modern times.
Known as the Prodigal Son of Contemporary Philippine Ceramics, Jose Solon Perfecto has been making art on the pottery wheel since he was 8 years old. Almost three decades later, Solon Perfecto has had 3 solo exhibitions after leaving the city and a corporate job to become a full-time artist.
