About Solon Perfecto Ceramics & Culture

An art house established by husband-and-wife artists Jose Solon Perfecto and Aussy Perfecto, it uses clay and words to create a language that tells stories of the Filipino artist in the Philippines and across the diaspora. Using media, they build a vocabulary of and about Philippine contemporary ceramics, taste, and culture.

Jose Solon Perfecto

Jose Solon Perfecto is a Filipino artist whose practice investigates the relationship between clay, culture, memory, tradition, and the inner experience of life. His work engages with questions of identity, place, mortality, and transformation through pottery and ceramic art. He approaches ceramics as a material language through which histories, memories, and mythology can be embodied and reimagined. His Self-Portraits and Terroir Ceramics explore the evolving possibilities of contemporary Philippine ceramics and Filipino table culture, while engaging broader questions about the role of the Filipino artist in nation-building.
