Studio Visit: Small Laude, Karen Davila, and Ricco Ocampo
TV anchor Karen Davila and “It’s A Small World” TV host Small Laude go pottery shopping at Perfecto Deli with Jose
Our friend Ricco Ocampo, an entrepreneur and art collector, who has been a patron of our ceramics and endeavors, brought his friends Karen Davila (a renowned broadcast journalist and art collector herself) and Small Laude, a businesswoman and TV/social media personality, to the home studio on a quiet afternoon this past summer.
Ricco has been living in La Union since the pandemic and he is an ambassador of the slow, intentional, provincial life we live here. It’s always nice to have people from Manila come to the workshop, because they leave a creative energy behind that we’re able to put into the art for days and weeks after.
The video was shot by Small Laude’s team in their signature vlog style for her YouTube channel. It’s no small feat to have close to 3 million subscribers and we’re happy our humble studio was featured for a few minutes (beginning at the 38:38 mark) in her vlog. We have Ricco to thank for navigating the rough road that leads to our part of town, at the foot of a mountain.
Small Laude took home a medium honey pot in terroir ceramics, celadon glaze. This pot has a twin, in celadon and cobalt stripes, which is in Manila as a personal gift to my mentor, another common friend of Ricco’s, the managing director of Tatler Philippines.
